This is Chris Perry. He is a former resident of our sober living dorm on campus.
He set up a fundraiser to give back to our residents. He is continuing to remain sober and is actively utilizing the skills and tools he learned while in our program to show others how good recovery can be. Here's what Chris has to say about Pay it Forward:
“My name is Chris Perry and I am 38 years old. I have been free of any mind-altering substance since September 30th, of 2020.
Pay It Forward was where I stayed for twelve months of my recovery. It was during my time there, where and when I quickly began to see the fruits of sobriety and the benefits of this recovery lifestyle.
I pay homage to the roots of this recovery program because, I am now living a more promising life. I giveback today, so the men and women coming after me, can share a slice of this spiritual joy. I am super grateful for Pay It Forward! Thank you for being the instrument that encouraged me to push for a second shot at life."
I am Pamela Farris and I'm here to let you know that WE DO RECOVER! After 40 years of drug & alcohol use and mental issues that led me to homelessness, desperation and despair I had lost my soul. I was at rock bottom with no hope and nowhere to turn. I couldn't stand myself!
Today I have been transformed into a woman with dignity and value; a woman with morals; a woman of integrity. I have learned to hold my head up hight thanks to Haven for Hope and Pay it Forward. With a lot of hard work and perseverance I am now an employee at Haven for Hope. I started by working in the Donation Center and am now the Senior Supervisor over Facilities. All in less than two years.
I owe a lot of this success to Pay it Forward who taught me how to be responsible again and how to participate in my own life and be held accountable for my actions.
Today I am 2 years and 4 months clean and sober and for that I am truly grateful. I am finally living my best life.
